A lovely sunday for a walk.. and walking we did. During the workshop Mobile Storytelling we explored creating tours in the center of Utrecht.

Scroll down for a review of the software we used (SCVNGR, The Hidden Park, 7Scenes, Treasuremapper, Broadcastr).

Here are some things you might want to explore. Mind you, the 5 hour workshop was intended to get the participants up and running to continue creating their own works, not to produce brilliant works.

Still, we created some interesting things. I recommend these:

De Steenhouwer by Emil Struijker Boudier
The parable of the stonecutter turned out to be a great choice to turn into an audio-based walk. In the story a stonecutter, fed up with his tiresome work, wishes to be something else: a rich man, the king, the sun, the rain, a stone, and then the stonecutter again. The cyclic nature of the story was translated to a cyclic walk around the Lepelenburg park.

Here's a map of the experience (without audio). If you want to actually try it out, go the the park and open netniet.org/map/steenhouwer on your mobile, or scan the QR-code to the right.

Soundscape by Freyja van den Boom
Freyja created a soundscape at the Neude square using the Broadcastr application. She was the first to use Broadcastr here. The sounds you hear were all recorded inside the Dutch Game Garden's kitchen.

Nachtelijk Buitenspelen by Lara Simons
Lara created a walkable report of the Nachtelijk Buitenspelen extravaganza that hit Utrecht a few weeks ago. During that night verious creatives put up artworks all around the center of town.

The walk can be found at netniet.org/map/nb.
